Officers confer in front of the destroyed bus

A bus carrying nursing home evacuees burst into flames early Friday morning, killing 24 of the 44 passengers on the bus.
Thirty-eight of the passengers on the bus were nursing home residents for the Brighton Gardens nursing home in Houston; the other six passengers were employees from the home.
The National Transportation Safety Board dispatched an investigation team and will be looking at the possible causes of the fire and explosion; but it is believed that the bus caught fire because of a mechanical problem, such as overheated brakes, and then oxygen tanks that some of the passengers were using exploded.
Much of the bus was destroyed (see picture above).
Our prayers go out to the family members who lost loved ones in this tragedy.
