Hurricane Katrina has been downgraded to a Category 1.
The downgrade was made at 11:00 a.m. EDT.
Top sustained wind speeds are now 75 mph.
Category 1 is the lowest rating for a hurricane, requiring a minimum sustained wind speed
of 74 mph.
When Rita's wind speed drops below 74 mph, it will be classified as a tropical storm.
