Forecasters are predicting that Hurricane Rita will make landfall along the central Texas coast between Galveston and Corpus Christi.
So the center of the storm should be far away from New Orleans, but New Orleans could still get significant rainfall, of three inches or more.
And any rainfall could be consequential to the city.
The levee system is still weak and vulnerable in some areas, and heavy rainfall could cause a break.
Numerous pumps have been running 24 hours a day to drain the floodwater from the city, and all water should be drained by mid-October.
Our prayers continue to go out to everyone in New Orleans and we pray that if heavy rainfall does hit the city that the levee will hold.
